The Wind on Fire trilogy

okay so i read WoF when i was younger. the books are for preteens. but idgaf. i loved them as a kid, still love em now. i seriously just read the last two books in the past two days.

i was so into the the last one, Firesong, i finished it in about 5 or 6 hours. the type might be larger than most books, but they are pretty damn thick. so the speed i finished it is only a little longer than i can read any of the Uglies books, and since those are my favorite books i can read those pretty damn fast. so this is saying something.

but if you decide to accept my recommendation, be forewarned: the first book is rather childish and silly. but somehow that is in the best way possible and its perfect. now, the last two don’t suddenly become adult novels, but they are darker but at the same time are just as silly. but still so good! i actually got a little teary eyed at parts in Firesong.

the character development jumps a big chasm between The Wind Singer and Slaves of the Mastery due to the fact it occurs some years apart, so that’s a bit odd. but the emotions experienced and described in the books, particularly Firesong, are easy to connect to. even though ive never gone on a journey to search for a homeland (no that wasn’t a spoiler, it’s obvious that’s what happens). i still found myself understanding much of what the characters felt, and William Nicholson does a beautiful job describing and painting the mental pictures for the reader, he really did a fantastic job. so if you need a fun, quirky, yet awesome story to read, go pick these up!!

and keep in mind that im turning 20 this year and have been reading at a college reading level since i was 13, so the fact i enjoyed this should be saying something. children’s books or not, these are some epic reads!
